Campaign for Australian Aid in partnership with Save the Children would like to invite you to the Maribyrnong Candidates Forum – Still the Lucky Country? Australian Aid in the 2020s.

Australia’s contribution to tackling the world’s biggest challenges has never been lower. Less than 1c out of every $1 in this year’s budget will go towards helping out neighbours to combat extreme poverty, climate change, and injustice. Despite this, since 2000 Australian aid has saved the lives of over 230,000 children through our health programs alone.

At this election we all have a choice to make. Do we continue to look inward and retreat from our neighbours and the world, or do we choose to make a big-hearted, compassionate Australia? This event is an opportunity for the voters of Maribyrnong to examine the polices of the candidates for the upcoming election and explore these key challenges.

In attendance:

  • Meshel Laurie (MC)
  • Tim Watts MP, representing Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten
  • James Williams, Greens Candidate
  • Sarwar Hasan, United Australia Party Candidate

This campaign is backed by Australia's aid & development groups
