Politicians Unite to Support Australian Aid and to End Global Poverty
To mark the importance of Anti-Poverty Week, MPs and Senators from across the political spectrum have come together to celebrate the positive impact of Australian Aid.
Oaktree’s Co-Head of Campaigns, Stacey Batterham said, “We are pleased to see politicians from across the political spectrum here today to celebrate the transformative power of Australian Aid, which will continue to play an important role in our region well into the future. As a youth-run organization, Oaktree is especially pleased to see the growing recognition of the important role that youth play in poverty alleviation.”
“To ensure the growth and impact of Australian Aid, we need to continue fostering the spirit of cross- party support shown today,” said Ms Batterham.
Director of the Campaign for Australian Aid, Tony Milne said, “The global community is making progress towards ending poverty, hunger and the worst epidemics. The world has worked together to halve the number of children dying before their fifth birthday in the past two decades.”
“Many millions still live in extreme poverty so it’s promising to see politicians coming together this Anti-Poverty Week to celebrate the important role Australian Aid can play to help end poverty,” said Mr Milne.
